FOR THEIR REMATCH: Basadre now more focus vs. Demecillo

PhilBoxing.com

GEN. SANTOS CITY ? WBA Youth bantamweight king Daryl ?Flash? Basadre Daryl Basadre is now more focus to face WBA Oceania bantamweight champion Kenny Demecillo of Cebu in their upcoming rematch on September 26 at 4 p.m. for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia bantamweight title at the Gaisano Mall Atrium here.

?Mas focus na ako ngayon compared sa unang laban namin kung saan two weeks lang ako nakauwi noon,? (I?m more focused now compared in our first fight wherein I only arrived two weeks) said the 22-year old Basadre, who was coming from a two-month sparring job in Japan before arriving back to Gensan for their first title-fight held last June 7 at the Robinson?s Mall Gensan.

?Hindi ko maintindihan ang katawan ko noon pagbalik mula Japan. Marahil na over-trained or nabugbug ang katawan ko. Para akong lumulutang sa taas ng ring (I really can?t understand my body since I arrived from Japan. Maybe I was over trained or my body was bruised. I was floating on top of the ring,? said Basadre (14 wins, 2 loses, 1 draw) during an interview last Sept. 7 at the Sanman Gym.

Basadre?s preparation now is different since losing to Demecillo (9-3-1) by a controversial second round technical knockout.
Basadre has sparred at least 70 rounds now against his fellow boxers from Sanman Promotions.

?Siguro mga 70 percent na rin siya nasa kundisyon,? said trainer Rene Gabawa.

Last Monday, Basadre showed his punching skills against undefeated boxers Markquil Salvana (8-0) and Reymart Gaballo (9-0), who are slated to see action in the undercard against former PBF champion Philip Parcon and bantam Fredeon dela Cruz, respectively.

?I?m confident Basadre can make a comeback,? said Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Manangquil.

The 5-foot-5 Basadre won the WBC Youth world bantamweight title via an 8th round technical knockout against Yodsingdaeng Jor Chaijinda at the Sangyo Hall in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan last Nov. 30, 2014.

He also won the vacant WBF International super flyweight crown by decking Julius Alcos thrice to win by a second round TKO on March 20, 2014 at the Lagao gym in Gensan.

Basadre?s only other loss was a 6th round knockout against Suriyan Sor Rungvisai at the NCO Club, Royal Thai Airforce in Bangkok, Thailand last Sept. 6, 2013 for the WBC Asian Boxing Council bantamweight title.
