PREVIEW OF MELINDO-MENDOZA TITLE FIGHT ON PBO OVER SKY CABLE, SATURDAY 8:30 P.M.

Milan Melindo will step into the ring on Sunday, Manila Time, in his second attempt to win a world title when he takes on tough Mexican Javier Mendoza before a hometown crowd in Tijuana.
Fight fans will get a chance to size up the reigning IBF light flyweight champion when Viva Sports will telecast highlights of his title-winning performance against veteran Ramon Garcia Hirales who had lost his WBO light flyweight title to Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes in Bacolod City on October 8, 2011.
In his first crack at a world title Melindo, faced talented Mexican WBO and WBA flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada at the Cotai Arena in Macau on July 27, 2013 when he made the mistake of trying to slug it out with Estrada and was dropped in the eleventh round.
Trainer Edito ?Ala? Villamor told ?The Main Event? that Melindo was ripped and ready and sharply focused for the fight after two months training at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
Mendoza who is essentially a solid body puncher is 24 years old and has an impressive record of 23-2-1 with 19 knockouts while Melindo, a skillful boxer who depends on his ring savvy to prevail against the heady-handed Mendoza.
The TV Special will be telecast on Viva Sports ?The Main Event? at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday over PBO, Pinoy Box Office on Sky Cable with a replay at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
