NBA -- Nets outclass Maccabi, 111-94

BROOKLYN -- The Brooklyn Nets opened their 2014 preseason campaign on a high note, beating the Maccabi Tel-Aviv Electra, 111-94, Tuesday night at the Barclays Center.

After missing 65 regular season games last season due to foot surgery, 7-foot center Brook Lopez appeared in fine form and led the Nets with 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting. The Stanford alum also plucked 5 rebounds in 23 minutes of play.

Lopez got plenty of help as Brooklyn had six players finishing with double figures in points. Deron Williams had 17 points and 7 assists while Joe Johnson added 14. Andre Kirilenko chipped in 13.

The Nets jumped to a 31-22 lead after one quarter of action and never looked back. Brooklyn outrebounded Maccabi, 44-43, and the Nets also won the assists battle, 23-15.

Jeremy Pargo led Maccabi Electra with an all-around fare of 27 points, six rebounds and six assists. Brian Randle contributed 16 and six boards while Sylven Landesberg finished with 14 in Maccabi's losing cause.
