Filipino Cue artist Anthony "Antonio" Raga edged compatriot Antonio "Nikoy" Lining, 8-3, in an-All Filipino finals of the 39th Japan Open held at the New Pier Hall, Minato City, Tokyo, Japan Monday night, September 21, 2026.
For winning the Men's 10-Ball crown, Raga received the top prize of JPY 1,400,000.
Lining, on the other hand, brings home the runner-up prize of JPY 700,000.
" I would like to dedicate my victory to my family, my friends, my sponsors, my country and to God," said Raga, who hails from Cebu.
Raga's impressive title campaign included victories over Japan's Masahiro Shimano, 8-1, in the Round of 16, fellow Filipino Saldy Galliguez,8-3, in the quarterfinals , and Miguel Salvilla, 8-6, in the semifinals.
The championship adds another major achievement to the Filipino's growing resume and provides a huge confidence heading into the 2026 Philippines Open Pool Championship scheduled from October 20-24 at the Gateway Mall, Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City.
Games and Amusements Board Chairman Atty. Francisco J. Rivera hailed Raga's latest international triumph.
"Congratulations to Filipino pool master Anthony "Anton" Raga on a world-class victory," Rivera said.
" Congratulations also to Antonio "Nikoy" Lining and Denise "Denden" Santos who made it to the finals in their respective division," he added.
In the Women's play, Denise "Denden" Santos was beaten by Chen Siming of China, 6-7, in the 9-ball finals.
With the win, Siming received top prize JPY 500,000 while Santos pocketed the runner-up purse of JPY 250,000.
