Marlon ?The Nightmare? Tapales of Lanao del Norte and Fadhili Majiha of Tanzania are all set for their WBO Asia-Pacific bantamweight title fight this Saturday June 28 at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
Tapales ( 25-2,9KO?s), the defending champion, and Majiha (15-3-4,7KO?s) both weighed in at the division limit of 118 lbs during the official weigh-in held Friday. Tapales has trainer Juanito Ablaca in his corner while Majiha will have Emmanuel Mlundwa.
In a message relayed to philboxing, Majiha stated that he intends to surprise Tapales? hometown fans.
?I have trained very well for the last two months. I am going to knock Marlon Tapales before round 6," Majiha stated.
Boxrec lists the following officials for this bout - WBO supervisor Antonio Comia, Referee Danrex Tapdasan,judges Salven Lagumbay,Tony Pesons and Roel Densing.
The southpaw Tapales garnered the Philippine light flyweight title in this same venue in 2010 by stopping Warlito Parrenas in seven rounds and he returned to his hometown a year later to knockout Thai Yodpichai Sithsaithong in the fourth. He is currently ranked number 6 in the 118 lb category by the World Boxing Organization.
