MILWAUKEE -- In a match-up between the Eastern Conference's best and worst teams, the Indiana Pacers easily dispatched the Milwaukee Bucks, 110-100, Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Led by All-Star Paul George, the 42-13 Pacers directed the pace from start to finish and built a commanding 22-point lead. The Pacers shot 45 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range.
The 10-45 Bucks gallantly fought back and sliced the deficit all the way to 3. But they just couldn't get over the hump as they made only 35 of 83 field goals.
Brandon Knight led the Bucks with 30, including 20 in the opening half. Khris Middleton added 13 while Ersan Ilyasova finished with 12. Ramon Sessions, acquired during the trade deadline, chipped in seven points.
The Bucks couldn't handle the Pacers firepower as three of Indy's stalwarts combined for 86 points. George had 32, David West tallied 30 and Lance Stephenson registered 24.
It was a much-needed win for the Pacers, who lost 3 of the last 5 games, a cause of concern for the team, especially head coach Frank Vogel.
As to comment about the trading of longtime Pacer Danny Granger and the possibility of facing him in the playoffs, George told this writer, " we are in this league to win championships not friendships."
