PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns nearly squandered a 7-point lead in the final 1:21 of play but they still managed to beat the Boston Celtics Wednesday night at the US Airways Center.
Markieff Morris registered 18 points while point guard Goran Dragic registered 17 points and six assists as the Suns prevailed, 100-94. Gerald Green also finished with 17 and Phoenix improved to 32-21 for the season.
But Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek wasn't entirely pleased with the victory and was unhappy with their near end-game collapse. He told NBA.com, "You've got to be focused and work it. We're not good enough to take plays off. Every play for us matters... to be a good team. If you're tired we can take you out. I want this team to develop a killer instinct."
Point guard Rajon Rondo was the main man for Boston with 18 points and 10 assists while Brandon Bass had 18. Jeff Green tallied 17 but the Celtics, who fell farther out of the playoffs picture at 19-36, made only 34 of 87 field goals (39.1 percent). (SD)
