NBA -- Clippers ground Rockets, 137-118

LOS ANGELES -- The L.A. Clippers built a17-point first quarter lead and never looked back in a relatively easy 137-118 romp over Dwight Howard and the visiting Houston Rockets at the Staples Center.

All-Star Chris Paul set the table for the Clippers offense with 23 points and a game-high 17 assists.

"Offensively, we played with great pace. We were able to get the ball out quick, scored in transition and scored in the half court," Clippers power forward Blake Griffin told NBA.com Monday night after the rout.

J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford joined Los Angeles' scoring parade with 26 and 21 points respectively. Jared Dudley added 15 more for the Clippers, who dropped 78 first half points.

James Harden led the Rockets with 15 while point guard Jeremy Lin had 14 and eight assists. Dwight Howard settled for 13 and seven rebounds, making only 4-of-9 field goals. (SD)
