JULATON SURVIVES CUT, ESCAPES WITH MAJORITY DECISION WIN

Filipina boxing hero Ana ?Hurricane? Julaton (13-4-1,2KO) fought her heart out last night at Yucatan, Mexico against a very determined foe, Perla Hermandez (10-7-3, 2KO).

Though Julaton was slightly smaller than the Mexican gal, she followed her game plan and came off the fight with a majority decision. Judges scores were: 97-93, 98-94 and 95-95.

Julaton relied mostly on her jabs and overhand rights plus short body shots when Hernandez elects to get close and fight from a clinch.

In round 6th, an accidental head butt opened a cut on Julaton?s right eyebrow which upon initial glance appeared to be a problem as it bled profusely.

However, expert management by her un-named local cutman saved the day for Julaton. Although the cut bled slightly every round thereafter from 7 to 10, it was literally a ?no-factor? as Julaton was far busier and connected more than Hernandez.

Hernandez occasionally lands heavy punches that snaps the head of Julaton but they were too few and far in between to negate the points scored by Julaton.

Julaton?s victory revived her quest to re-gain her WBO Super bantamweight world title she lost to Yesica Marcos in Argentina last March 2012.

Team Julaton were obviously delighted by her win as it again opened the road to many more such fights that they hope will eventually lead to another title fight for the Filipino boxing hero.

Julaton?s victory can be credited in part to her high altitude training done in Reno, Nevada and the occasional pointers from Jeff Mayweather when Julaton finds time to work out at the TMT gym in Las Vegas where she is now currently based.
