Trail Blazers top Warriors 90 - 74

OAKLAND -- The Portland Trail Blazers topped the Golden State Warriors 90-74 Thursday night at the Oracle Arena here in Oakland, California.

It was the Warriors' last preseason game heading into the 2013-14 regular season. They finished the exhibition season with a 3-4 slate that was highlighted by two wins over the Lakers in the NBA's Global Games leg in China.

The Warriors led 48-41 at halftime but the surging young Trail Blazers out scored Golden State 29-9 in the third quarter to seize the advantage. The shorthanded Warriors were held to 33 percent shooting playing without David Lee (dental surgery) and Harrison Barnes (resting a foot injury).

Oakland native Damian Lillard of Portland led all scorers with 21 points while playing in front of family and friends who were noticeably loud rooting for last year's Rookie of the Year. LaMarcus Aldridge added 16 points including 8 of 9 from the free throw line.

Stephen Curry scored 17 and Klay Thompson added 16 points for Golden State, They were the only Warriors who scored in double figures.

Despite their disappointing record, Warriors head coach Mark Jackson reassured the media and fans during the post-game press conference that they will be ready for the new season ahead. The Warriors open their season October 30 against the Los Angeles Lakers. (RM)
