MANDAUE CITY - Melvin Gumban (13W-0L, 6 KO?s) will battle tough Fernando ?Batang Bato? Ocon (10W-4L, 2 KO?s) in the ten round main event of the ALA-Cobra ?Tunay na Lakas? fight card on Saturday May 4 at the Mandaue City Plaza.
Gumban, an up and coming prospect fighting out of the ALA Gym, weighed in at 116 lbs while Ocon, from the RWS Gym, stepped on the scales at 115.5 lbs during the official weigh-in held Friday at the Pacific Mall in Mandaue City supervised by Rolando Mendoza and Glen Agena of GAB-Cebu.
Three of Gumban?s last five fights ended by the short route but Ocon has never been knocked out. The 22 year old Ocon lost on points in three regional fights abroad last year. The 23 year old Gumban beat Marjun Tabamo by unanimous decision in Bohol last February.
There will be six more pairs seeing action on the undercards- Pedro Balaba (121 lbs) vs Albert Villacampa (120.5 lbs) - 8 rounds, Juren Labordo (114 lbs) vs Rowell Garcia (113 lbs) - 8 rounds, Rey Morales (112.5 lbs) vs Renante Suacasa (113 lbs) - 8 rounds, Lito Dante (106 lbs) vs Rez Padrogane (104 lbs) - 6 rounds, Brian Lobitania (119 lbs) vs Rocky Alvarez (117 lbs) - 6 rounds and Ivor Lastrilla (123 lbs) vs Takaoki Noma of Japan (122.5 lbs) - 4 rounds. This free to the public event is part of the continuing partnership of ALA Promotions and Cobra Energy Drink. Fight time is at 6PM.
