CHICAGO -- First, the good news. The MRI on Bulls forward Taj Gibson's injured left knee is "mostly favorable," reports the Chicago Tribune.
The bad news is that the "aggravated scar tissue" will keep Gibson from today's Bulls game against the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. "Whoever can go has to go out there and get the job done. That's the way we've been operating since the All-Star break," Thibodeau also told the Tribune.
Gibson missed 10 games after first spraining his left knee on February 2 at the Oklahoma City Thunder game. the same knee was re-injured against the Washington Wizards last Tuesday at the Verizon Center. He is listed as day-to-day.
"It's really up to see how I am feeling. It can happen again. I can come out and decide I want to play but I just have to have my mind ready and my body prepared for the outcome of it because I know we're making a playoff push and everybody is needed right now," Gibson told reporters.
The Bulls-Nets game has serious playoffs implications as the 43-31 Brooklyn tries to protect its fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings while the 40-33 try to move higher than sixth place. The Bulls lead their regular season series, 2-1.
Besides Gibson, the Bulls don't have the services of Derrick Rose (ACL rehab), Joakim Noah (plantar faciitis), Richard "Rip" Hamilton (lower back spasms) and Marco Bellinelli (abdominal strain).
Joe Johnson has missed the past 5 games for the Nets, but is expected to return tonight against the Bulls. (FG)
