Top Rank Promotions and ALA Promotions are talking about the possibility of Milan 'El Metodico' Melindo fighting in Macau on April 6 on the undercard of the WBO/WBA flyweight title fight between champion Brian 'The Hawaiian Punch' Viloria and challenger Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico.
The undefeated Melindo (28W-0L, 11 KO's) , who fights out of of the ALA gym, is the WBO International flyweight champion and the mandatory challenger to Viloria's WBO crown.
ALA Promotions VP Dennis Ca?ete said that if this fight pushes through, this will be a big break for Melindo if he winds up as the co-feature. Melindo could very well fight the winner of Viloria-Estrada or fight for the vacant WBO world title if Viloria decides to vacate the crown. Viloria was quoted last year as saying that he does not want to face another Filipino inside the ring.
Viloria (32W-3L, 19 KO's) unified the WBO and WBA titles last November after stopping Mexican Hernan Marquez in ten rounds. In that same fight card held in Los Angeles, Estrada (22W-2L, 18 KO's) lost to WBA light flyweight champion Roman Gonzales of Nicaragua by unanimous decision. Melindo's last fight was a majority decision win against Jean Piero Perez of Venezuela last September at the Waterfront Hotel.
