American David Mendoza has been named as referee for the flyweight unification title fight between WBO champion Brian Viloria of the Philippines and WBA champion Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez of Mexico at the LA Sports Arena on Sunday, Manila Time.
World Boxing Organization (WBO) president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel, announced that for the third title defense of Viloria who has a record of 31-3 with 18 knockouts against the hard-hitting Marquez who sports a 34-2, 25 knockouts record the judges will be Levi Martinez, Jonathan Davis and David Denkin, all from United States.
The WBO supervisor for the title fight will be Richard De Cuir.
Among the big fights Mendoza has refereed were Timothy Bradley vs Nate Campbell on August 1, 2009, Shane Mosley vs Ricardo Mayorga for the WBA Intercontinental title on September 27, 2008, Antonio Escalante vs Mike Oliver in a WBO, NABO title bout on October 24, 2008, Vic Darchinyan vs Filipino Diosdado Gabi for the IBF/IBO flyweight title on March 3, 3006 and the WBO clash between Joan Guzman and Agapito Sanchez who once fought Manny Pacquiao, in a WBO clash on February 26, 2004.
