GARCIA BATTERS MORALS INTO SUBMISSION IN FOUR ROUNDS TO RETAIN HIS WBC/WBA TITLE

Defending WBC/WBA super lightweight champion Danny Garcia proved his worth when he battered ageing Mexican legend Erik ?El Terrible? Morales into submission in four rounds at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Sunday morning Manila Time.

In the rematch telecast on the popular weekly boxing show ?Big Time Bakbakan? over AKTV IBC 13, Garcia gave the game Morales a bad beating that prompted Morales to announce in the end it would be his last fight in the United States with the possibility of one farewell bout in his hometown of Tijuana, Mexico.

Morales had, upto the end of the bout, shown his willingness to trade big shots with the much younger Garcia but it proved futile as Garcia caught Morales with a vicious left hook that spun Morales around and sent him crashing into the ropes and almost out of the ring in the fourth round after earlier using a stinging left jab to set him up.

Morales? father/trainer Jose Morales rushed in to stop his son being brutalized forcing referee Benji Esteves to call a halt at 1:23 of the fourth round.

Garcia who won the title in March by beating Morales who failed to make the weight kept his undefeated record which now stands at 25-0 with 16 knockouts while Morales dropped to 52-0 with 36 knockouts.

Morales had previously been stopped twice by ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao in their epic trilogy with Morales winning a unanimous twelve round decision in their first encounter but losing the second by a 10th round TKO and the third by a 3rd round knockout.
