The Cebu boxing scene travels south this February 4 when Along "The Boholano Bulldog" Denoy swaps punches with Jason Canoy of the Omega Gym of Mabolo, Cebu City at the Dalaguete Gymnasium in a ten round non-title bout.
Denoy (32W-9L-4D, 19 KO's), who hails from Candijay, Bohol, has been a staple of the small fight cards of ALA Promotions. Last year, he had a technical draw against Charlie Cabilla in a ?free to the public? fight card during the Sinulog festival at the Gaisano Country Mall carpark. He would lose in Japan to Suguru Muranaka but bounced back with a second round TKO win over Henry Acha in Iloilo last September.
Canoy (12W-2L-1D, 8 KO's) suffered his first career loss in his bid to win the Philippine light flyweight title last year to Jerson Mancio by unanimous decision in San Remigio,Cebu. He knocked out Erwin Pulvera in one round at the Hoops Dome but would lose again in his first overseas fight in Thailand by 7th round technical decision to Oleydong Sithsamerchai last October 28.
Set to appear in the undercards are undefeated prospect Boyce Sultan (6W-0L, 4 KO's) of Zamboanga del Norte, who will face Joash Apericio (7W-6L, 5 KO's) of Bukidnon (8 rounds) and another unbeaten fighter Arjan Canillas (3W-0L-1D,2 KO's) of Toledo City, who is pitted against 'Buhay Boksingero' finalist Rodel Wenceslao (4W-2L) in a six rounder. Fight fans will also get to see amateur contests.
