Don't look now, but it seems a former Cebu-based boxing announcer will finally get his dream job to work alongside the legendary Michael Buffer on July 2 for the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar Larios rumble.
GAB boxing division chief Nasser Cruz, in an interview, has informed that Navarro is one of the two names being put under consideration to land the plum job of working with the iconic Buffer, whose 'Let's Get Ready to Rumble' line is known all over the world.
Before relocating to Manila, Navarro was known for his flawless announcing chores in Cebu, which made him the favorite ring announcer to such huge fights involving Randy Suico, Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista, Z Gorres, Rev Santillan, Malcolm Tunacao and many others.
Known for his voice quality and a flawless fluency of English, Navarro will be a shoo-in to indeed get the job.
Rex 'Wakee' Salud, who tapped Navarro in several of his past promotions, only had kind words and even lauded Navarro for bringing thrill to boxing events.
"We all miss his professionalism and grasp of the job," Salud said in an earlier interview.
