TUNACAO DEFENDS OPBF CROWN IN KYOWA-MAYOL CARD

Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation bantam champ Malcolm "Eagle Eye" Tunacao will defend his title for the second time against Japanese Yasuo Kijima on May 6 in Tokyo as an undercard to the WBC minimumweight battle between the undefeated Rodel Mayol and reigning champion Eagle Kyowa.

Both fights will be held at the famed Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

"Yes, I will be fighting on the same card as Mayol versus Kyowa," confirmed Tunacao yesterday when asked of his schedule which was first announced by Boxrec.com.

Tunacao (19-1-3, 13 KO's) is coming off a controversial draw with Japanese Kohei Ohba in his first title defense last February 5. He took the title with a one-sided unanimous decision over Thai Kumarnthong Pluemkamol.

The Tokyo-based Kijima (19-8-2, 5 KO's), is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Japanese bantam champ Sasha Bakhtin.

Kijima is a stablemate of Eagle Kyowa, so they will be up against Tunacao and Mayol, who are also stablemates. The two bouts thus pit the best of the Kadoebi Jewel Stable against the Yasuo Matsuoka Stable.
