Dear Mr Manny Pinol,
I woke up this morning, like I do most every morning to my dose of coffee and Philboxing. I read the articles on Philboxing with fervor daily, always hoping to hear about the latest Filipino boxer, trainer, manager or promoter making a move in the boxing world.
Your articles Mr Pinol are among my favorite, and I always read them with a lot of interest. I have had the fine pleasure of having my boxers appear on your promotions in the past, so it is without hesitation that when I read that you are still looking for an opponent for Lorenzo Villanueva to defend his WBO Oriental featherweight championship in Bacolod in April against, that I would look to my world class junior featherweight Ramie Laput as an opponent.
As you know Laput is also a former WBO title holder. In fact Laput (40 wins and 4 losses) is a 2 time WBO belt holder as well and a former RP champion. Even though Laput is actually a 122 pounder, he is willing to move up to the 126 pound division to meet Villanueva. Laput is coming off of a win over ALA fighter Larry "Bon Jovi" Canillas, a fight that was held in Cebu.
A Villanueva vs Laput fight has the makings of a fantastic WBO Oriental championship fight and would certainly be a major step up in competition for Lorenzo. If Lorenzo is willing Ramie, is waiting to challenge him.
Should you Mr Pinol agree to this challenge for your boxer Villanueva, just have ALA Promotions send the contract, and I will agree. Hope to see you in Bacolod.
Your friend Ken Smith.
