MIKE JONES REMAINS UNDEFEATED WITH MAJORITY DECISION VICTORY OVER SOTTO KARASS

COWBOYS STADIUM -- Undefeated welterweight Philadelphia's Mike Jones escaped defeat by earning a majority decision victory against Mexico's Jesus Soto Karass. The judges' scores were Levi Martinez, 94-95; Sergio Caiz, 93-97; and Gale E. Van Hoy 94-94.

Jones (23-0-0, 18KO) started fast in the first 4 minutes of the fight and appeared to hurt Soto Karass (24-5-3, 16KO) in the 2nd round where he pressed Karass to the ropes and thrown like a hundred punches causing cuts to the left and right side of Karass's face but the veteran Mexican weathered the storm and came back punching to the punched out American.

It was all Soto Karass from there as it was Jones who was in the receiving end trying to survive every round from the Mexican's assault. Sott Karass however failed to put away the American for good allowing Jones to recover in final three rounds of the contest allowing the two judges to give the nod to Jones.
