Siquijor, Siquijor - The boxers for this Wednesday?s fight card in Siquijor had their official weigh-in and pre-fight physical examination Tuesday afternoon at the Siquijor Municipal Hall. The event is headlined by a six round superbantamweight fight between Lubert Bayo of Mandaue City versus Jolito Catubay of Zamboanga del Norte. Bayo weighed 116 lbs while Catubay weighed 112 ? lbs.
For the supporting bouts, Honey Boy Vidad (123 ? lbs.) of Siquijor will fight Rajah Nas Bantugan (126 lbs) of Prinsesa Bulakna Resort Candaping ? B, Maria, Siquijor in a four round featherweight tussle and Bryan Samson (119 lbs) of Lazi, Siquijor will face Ian Malinao (121 lbs) of Ubay, Bohol in a four round superbantamweight scrap. Fights featuring local amateur standouts will open the event presented by Rex ?Wakee? Salud International Promotions.

Trivia - Siquijor is located 30 kilometers southeast of Negros Oriental and can be easily reached from Cebu by fastcraft or the slower boats, or from Dumaguete and Tagbilaran cities by pumpboats. The island was was discovered by Esteban Rodriguez of the Miguel Lopez de Legazpi expedition in 1565. The Spanish colonizers gave Siquijor the name Isla del Fuego (island of fire) due to the twinkling lights created by the insects at night.
