ALBARACIN STOPS MAGBOO TO WIN WBO ORIENTAL CROWN!

In front of a raucous crowd in Muntinlupa City last night, Davao City's Jessie Albaracin defied all odds to beat Nino Magboo to wrest the WBO Oriental superbantam title via eighth round technical knockout.

Respected international referee Bruce Mctavish waved off the fight after Albaracin rained heavy blows on Magboo following a knockdown scored by the visiting fighter that saw Magboo on the seat of his pants for the count.

Although Magboo beat the count, he was clearly dazed and when the action resumed, Albaracin wasted no time in following up with combinations prompting McTavish to call a halt.

"When I asked him to walk towards me, he was still dazed. But he was ok to fight, but when I sensed he had already enough, I just have to protect the boy," McTavish told Philboxing.com after the fight.

WBO Asia Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo, who was at ringside to supervise the fight and awarded the Oriental belt on Albaracin, said the fight was action packed and delighted the fans.

Promoter Elmer Anuran, according to McTavish, said he will try to put up a rematch between the two on November 7, as an undercard to Brian Viloria's next fight in the Philippines.
