ROSAS STOPS COCKY NONGQAYI IN TITLE FIGHT

IBF super flyweight champion Simphiwe "The Golden Master" Nongqayi failed to match his loud mouth and was stopped by Mexican challenger Alberto ?The Monster" Rosas at :60 seconds of the sixth round at the Palenque de la Feria of Tepic, Nayarit on Sunday, Manila Time.

The trash-talking South African who almost engaged Rosas in a brawl at the weigh-in faced a highly motivated Mexican forcing Nongqayi to go down on one knee indicating he couldn?t take any more punishment at the hands of the tough Mexican.

With the win Rosas (32-5, 26 KO?s) avenged the defeats suffered by brothers Jorge and Francisco Arce at the hands of Nongqayi who dropped to 16-1-1, with 6 knockouts.

The Philippines world-rated AJ ?Bazooka? Banal won an eight round unanimous decision over Rosas on May 5, 2007 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas while Rosas earned the title shot with a unanimous twelve round decision in a title eliminator against another Filipino Federico Catubay on November 13, 2009.

Jorge Arce, fighting on the undercard, demolished veteran former WBA super flyweight champion Martin Castillo with a knockout at 2:56 of the opening round.

Arce caught Castillo with a vicious body shot sending the veteran to the canvas to be counted out.
