PACE to host FIDE chess tilt this weekend

Manila---Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence (PACE) will host hundreds of budding chess players as the back to back FIDE blitz and rapid chess tournament gets underway this weekend.

The fully air-conditioned academy will feature 1899 below (Blitz and Rapid events) on Saturday (March 30) and 1599 below (Blitz and Rapid events) divisions on Sunday (March 31) at PACE headquarter, Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City.

Cash prizes await the winners in this 2-day FIDE rated tournament, sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines and hosted by NCFP CEO/FST GM Jayson Gonzales, backed up by Atty. Nikki de Vega and Atty. Krisanto Karlo Nicolas.

"The event is aimed at developing good thinkers through the understanding of chess strategies and tactics, improving the logical abilities and rational thinking and reasoning of the participants, and instilling a sense of self-confidence, self-worth and camaraderie," said Atty.
