IBF minimumweight kingpin Florante "The Little Pacquiao" Condes yesterday met with Philippine Vice-President Noli De Castro at the latter's office as the Filipino world champion prepares for his departure to Mexico next week.
Condes, who was accompanied by his Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani, trainer Danny Bactol, mediaman Ronnie Nathanielsz and some relatives and friends, discussed with De Castro his long-running managerial problems and briefed the vice president on the state of his training and his June 14 title defense against Raul Garcia in Mexico.
De Castro then pledged an amount to Condes and Gello-ani for the purchase of boxing equipment for use by the world champ and other promising young fighters who want to use boxing as a way out of poverty.
