Jersey Marticio of Cabuyao City, Laguna will spearhead a strong cast clashing in the GMG Youth Chess Challenge 15 years old and below tournament set May 20, Saturday, 9am at the 2nd floor Open Kitchen Foodhall, Rockwell Business Center, Sheridan Street, Mandaluyong City.
The 15-year-old Marticio, a Pulo National High School Grade 10 student, playing under the guidance of Cabuyao City Mayor Dennis Hain, and Dr. Fred Paez, looms as the player to beat in the seven-round Swiss system tournament owing to her magnificent performance in the National Age Group Chess Championship Grand Finals in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte and National Youth School Chess Championship Eliminations in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
A total pot prizes of P25,000 are up for grabs in this FIDE rated rapid event, sponsored by Thailand based coach NM Gerald Ferriol in close cooperation with Balinas Family, Mam China Aurelio and Mam Mimi Casas of Open Kitchen and Hongkong national player Sunny Lo.
Organized by Bayanihan Chess Club and sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines limited to first 180 participants only.
