CHANTELLE CAMERON STOPS MELISSA HERNANDEZ TO RETAIN WORLD TITLE

Chantelle Cameron produced a dominant display on her USA debut as she stopped Melissa Hernandez to retain her WBC super-lightweight title.

Cameron (14-0, 8 KOs) was putting her belt on the line against Hernandez (23-8-3, 7 KOs) at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and produced a perfect performance.

The Northampton star was ruthless throughout, landing powerful shots from the very first bell, with Hernandez struggling to cope with the pressure she was being put under.

The onslaught continued into the fourth round, with Cameron unleashing a flurry on the ropes and sending Hernandez to the canvas to claim the knockdown.

Hernandez managed to get back to her feet but was only able to last one more round, with the referee waving off the fight in round five to hand Cameron a superb victory.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Nordine Oubaali suffered an unfortunate defeat as he lost his WBC bantamweight title to Nonito Donaire at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

On the undercard, Batyr Jukembaev was involved in a fantastic fight with Subriel Matias, but also came up short during their back and forth battle.
