'KINGKONG' ORTIZ IS BACK WITH A BANG

Heavyweight contender Luis 'King Kong' Ortiz demolished Alexander Flores in 45 minutes of the first round to announce his return at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) in a Premier Boxing Champions event televised on Fox Sports.

Ortiz, who almost take out then WBC champion Deontay Wilder one year ago in his last outing, came out focused and throwing stinging jabs as Flores tried to size up his opponent. the southpaw Ortiz next connected with grazing left to the head of Ortiz and followed it up with a right to the body that dropped Flores who was not able to beat the count of Referee Thomas Taylor.

Ortiz, originally from Cuba who now resides in Miami, Florida, at 41 years old, appears still capable of challenging to top dogs in the division and now improves his record to 32 wins, 2 loses with 27 knockouts. Flores, 30, from Rowland Heights, California, dropped to 18-3-1, 16KOs.
