In the second fight of Showtime's Pay-Per-View at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT Saturday night, Texas native Brandon Figueroa, defending his WBA superbantam title, dominated Damien Vazquez of Las Vegas all night before stopping him in the 10th round.
Figueroa's relentless punching was too much for Vazquez as referee Gary Rosato stopped the carnage at 1:18 of the 10th round in a lopsided contest.
Figueroa was ahead on the judges' scorecards 89-81, 89-82 and 88-83 before the stoppage.
“I felt good tonight," Figueroa said after the fight. "He was a lot tougher than I expected. I was punishing him to the body and head. I had to switch to lefty because of how he was coming in with his head. I didn’t want to risk a head butt so I boxed him differently."
