Former WBA Interim Light Flyweight champion Randy Petalcorin (W29 KO22 L3 D1) will be back in action from months of hiatus following a heartbreak loss to Felix Alvarado. He is set to face Thai warrior Worawatchai Boonjan. The match will be featured as co-headliner in the Sanman-ESPN5 event on June 9 at the TV5 Studio in Caloocan and will be aired live via ESPN5.
Petalcorin wants to redeem himself this time. ?I was so heartbroken losing that way to Alvarado. I made mistakes and took a needed break in order to re-assess myself and the direction of my boxing career. I failed my team. But now I?m ready to pick-up the pieces and do better. I learned my lessons the hard way and now it?s time for redemption. I am still in my prime. I can still be a world champion. Now I got a tough Thai opponent to beat and I will do my best to impress my fans. It adds motivation that the fight will be on live national tv again,? Petalcorin stated.
Sanman CEO Jim Claude Managquil expressed his confidence on Petalcorin. ?We will observe how Randy performs this time. It?s a make or break for him. If he performs good enough, then me and my partner Peter Maniatis will push for another title shot for him. I saw how he trained and I can say the hunger and fire are still there.?
