Four Division champion Mikey Garcia (39-1, 30KOs) of Moreno Valley, California is good. He is destined for the boxing hall of fame. When his career is over he may be even remembered as Great. But tonight in Arlington, Texas at the AT&T Center Garcia just wasn?t good enough to make history and win his 5th world title in as many divisions.
IBF champ Errol Spence jr.(25-0, 21KOs) was simply just the better fighter. While Garcia had the support of the crowd (officially attendance 47,525), and seemed determined to win he just couldn?t overcome the reach, height, and power of Errol Spence Jr over 12 rounds. After the fight when he was announced as the winner, Spence Jr. immediately called out Manny Pacquiao who happened to be in the ring and challenged him to a fight. Pacquiao appeared to have accepted Spence?s challenge. As for Garcia?s future, he said he was uncertain but he would likely drop down to the lower divisions.
