CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers will live to play another day.
Down 0-3 against the powerhouse Golden State Warriors, the Cleveland Cavaliers set NBA Finals records of most points scored in any quarter (49 in the first) and most 3s made (24) to seize Game 4, 137-116, on Friday night at the Quicken Loans Arena.
Kyrie Irving poured 40 points with seven triples while LeBron James had 31 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, his 9th Finals triple-double which is a record.
"We have championship DNA," LeBron declared as the Cavs shot 52.9 percent from the field and 53.3 percent from long distance. Cleveland also won the assists battle, 27-26, and out-rebounded Golden State, 41-40.
Kevin Love added 23 points while Tristan Thompson had his best game of the series thus far with 5 points and 10 rebounds.
"You got to give them credit. They played extremely well tonight," said
Kevin Durant, who led the Warriors with 35. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson missed a combined 16 shots and finished only with a total of 27 points.
With the Game 4 defeat, the Warriors' unbeaten playoffs run ended at 15. But they can still win their second championship in three years with a win in Game 5 on Monday night (Tuesday AM in Manila) at the Oracle Arena.
