NBA -- Durant splashed for 33 to lead Warriors over Hornets

CHARLOTTE -- ​The visiting Golden State Warriors proved too mighty for the host Charlotte Hornets, logging a 113-103 triumph at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

​Kevin Durant set the pace for Golden State with 33 points, which included 16 in the fourth and final quarter. ​Stephen Curry, last year?s MVP​, contributed​ 28 points ​with six triples in 12 attempts while his backcourt partner, Klay Thompson, added 19.

​Kemba Walker ​kept the ​Hornets with 26 points on ​a ​losing effort. Nicolas Batum added 16​,​ Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had 15, while Marvin Williams and Marco Belinelli ​each ​had 14.

The Hornets ​dropped to ​23-23 .​(​500 mark​) in the standings while​ the Warriors improved their best on the league record to 39-7.

On Tuesday​,​ Stephen Curry​,​ who grew up in Charlotte had his high school jersey retired. Later that night Davidson College honored Curry with the name of ?Section 30? at halftime during Davidson?s game against Duquesne.

Curry who played ​three​ seasons with the Wildcats ​before leaving ​for the NBA during his junior year will not be retired by Davidson until he completes his college degree.
