Promising Filipino featherweight Michael Farenas, a prot?g? of former WBC super flyweight champion Gerry Penalosa will be featured on the top-rated weekly boxing show “The Main Event” on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. over RPN 9.
The program produced by Viva Sports is also replayed over the popular sports and entertainment cable channel Viva Prime and is sponsored by Tanduay, the No.1 Rhum, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
The 23 year old southpaw boasted of a record of 13-2-2 with 13 knockouts when he took on Japan’s 28 year old Takuro Matsubara at the famed Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
Matsubara has a record of 8-6-5 with 5 knockouts.
The show will also feature a coverage of the arrival of newly crowned IBF minimum weight champion Florante Condes who scored a split decision win over Indonesia’s Muhammad Rachman.
The program will include interviews with Condes and his Filipino manager Aljoe Jaro.
