As if his strength is not yet fearsome at this level, IBF mandatory challenger Florante Condes is getting even stronger each day while training for his July 7 challenge of IBF 105-lb world champion Muhammad Rachman.
According to Condes' manager Aljoe Jaro, his ward has been putting in the work, and he expects his boy to give good account of himself on fight night.
"Eto, walang kakaba-kaba. Habang tumatagal mag-ensayo lalong lumalakas," (He has no fear. He gets stronger the more he trains) informed Jaro today in a long-distance interview.
Both Jaro and Condes also heard today the best news to come out of Indonesia thus far: the fight is definitely on for July 7.
"The promoter called me up just now. He said we have a fight," said Jaro, who will be travelling with Condes on July 2 accompanied by trainer George Sol and lawyer Joaquin Mendoza.
Condes, a devastating puncher who is expected to hit 160 rounds of sparring next week, will challenge the very durable and shifty Rachman in a 12-round IBF showdown at the Indoor Tennis Senayan Stadium in Jakarta.
