Former OPBF and PABA superbantam champ Pederito Laurente of the Johnny Elorde Stable is slated to travel to Moscow to face unbeaten Russian Ayup Arsaev on June 1 for the interim Asian Boxing Council featherweight title.
This was confirmed today by Liza Elorde, who along with her husband Johnny steers the career of the Laurente brothers.
Laurente is coming off an 8-round unanimous decision over veteran Joebar Damosmog last last March 23.
Meanwhile, southpaw upstart Juan Martin 'Bai' Elorde, a grandson of the late Gabriel 'Flash' Elorde who is considered as the greatest Filipino fighter who ever lived, is set to return to ring action around end of June for his third professional fight against a soon-to-be-announced foe.
Elorde has so far racked up two impressive albeit decision wins in his young career, showcasing his vast technical potential and showing flashes of his grandpa's ring genius.
