PRO BOXING RETURNS TO SIQUIJOR

SIQUIJOR- After an almost two year absence, professional boxing makes a comeback in the island of Siquijor this May 10 with three pairs of up and coming boxers eager to make waves on this island.

Rajah Jay Raquinel (4-0,3KO's), who is representing Siquijor, will face Jimboy Haya (7-1-1,4KO's) of the Omega Gym of Cebu in the ten round main event this Saturday May 10 at the Lazi Municipal Gym.

Promoter Dr. Edgardo Apolinar plans to make boxing a vehicle for sports promotion and tourism on his native island. Raquinel has fought exclusively in Mindanao and this will be his first big test.

During the official weigh-in Saturday, Raquinel was at 110 lbs while Haya weighed 108lbs.The weigh-in was held in the scenic Princesa Bulakna Resort of Maria, Siquijor and supervised by Glenn Agena of Gab-Cebu.

For the undercards, Rajah Jetro Tulod of Siquijor weighed 105 lbs while Marjun Pantilgan of the Omega gym was at 110. They are set for four rounds. Salvador Crispin of Dumaguete was t 112 lbs while Filjun Taneo was 119, also set for four rounds.

There will be amateur bouts as well as singing and dancing as part of the fight night's entertainment.
