NBA - Pelicans extend Knicks' losing skid to 9

New Orleans -- Tyreke Evans, the 2010 Rookie of the Year, scored 27 points on 11-for-15 shooting to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a 104-93 win over the visiting New York Knicks at the Smoothie King Center on Tuesday night.

Anthony Davis added 18 points and eight boards while Omer Asik had 16 points and 14 rebounds as New Orleans won two in a row. The Pelicans improved to 10-10 in the overall standings, 10th place in the Western Conference.

Point guard Jrue Holiday guided the Pels' offense efficiently with 13 points and seven assists.

?When our offense isn?t clicking the way we want it to, our defense can carry us?, Pelicans head coach Monty Williams told reporters after the game.

Held to 20 fourth-quarter points, the Knicks shot fairly well on the field overall, 37 of 78 for 47.7 percent, but they were out-muscled off the glass 43-30. With their ninth consecutive defeat, the Knicks fell to 4-19, including just 1-for-10 on the road.

Despite New York Knicks? Amar?e Stoudamire being physical, Pelicans center Omar Asik stood tough with 16 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots.

Amar?e Stoudamire scored a season-high of 26 points for the Knicks while Carmelo Anthony and JR Smith added 17 points each.
