Vegas speaks: Martinez a slim favorite to win over Cotto

New York - The reigning World Boxing Council Middleweight champion is slightly favored to win and retain his crown over his challenger, Miguel Cotto in various betting propositions pertaining to their championship match tonight.
A quick look at one of the big Sports Books in the gambling capital of the world in Las Vegas shows Martinez as a 2:1 favorite over Cotto, one day before their big match at The Madison Square Garden.
Martinez is listed at -210, which means that in order to win $100, a bettor will need to pay $210 initially.
Meanwhile, Cotto is listed at +175, which means that a $100 bet will earn the winner $175 in case the Puerto Rican star pulls the upset.
Also, bettors can try their luck by betting on other betting offers. A -230 proposition if the fight will go 9 full rounds is posted while a +190 is offered if the fight will be waived off before the end of the 9th.
Both camps are predicting a stoppage of each other. Martinez does not see it going 9 rounds while Cotto?s trainer, Freddie Roach made a bold statement that his boxer will knockout the champion in 4.
Martinez?s not so stellar performance on his last two fights and his recent string of injuries are big question marks for him going to tonight?s fight. Hence the lower odds for him despite his size and experience as a true Middleweight.
Cotto?s impressive win in his last outing added by a superb team behind him, makes him an attractive pick for bettors who wanted a bigger return on their money.
Both fighters are expected to slug it out in the ring of The Garden at around 11 pm EST.
