Happy 76th Birthday to Philippine boxing?s Renaissance man Hermie Rivera By Emmanuel Rivera, RRT PhilBoxing.com Thu, 17 Apr 2014 ![]() Rivera. April 17, 2014 -- Hermie, as the late President Ferdinand Marcos used to say in his Ilocano-American accent, continues to do the job he was born for---cover and promote anything Filipino through print, internet and television with boxing as the enduring theme. In 1980, then-Press Secretary Gregorio ?Greg? Cendana assigned the press man as media representative for the NMPC (National Media Production Center) Honolulu, Hawaii. Herminigildo Ordona Rivera was born in Baguio (City of Pines) and raised in La Union, Philippines seventy six summers ago to Jose Rivera and Felomina Ordona. In 1964, the aspiring disc jockey landed in Dagupan City where he met my mother Cristina Rivera y Pasaoa. My brothers Antonio ?Tony?, Gerardo ?Andy?, Herminigildo ?Jay? and sisters Charina and Christine are grateful for their blessed marriage. On March 21, 1983, we migrated to San Francisco and settled in Newark, California. His grandchildren Grant (20), Louis (16), Keana (20), Leila (7) and Niko (15), my sister-in-law Stacey Alvarado and brother-in-law Billy Cesano wish their ?GramPapa? many, many more birthdays.
