'HERCULES' EYES WORLD TITLE NEXT YEAR By Dennis U. Eroa PhilBoxing.com Tue, 17 Dec 2013 Doliguez. ??You can run but you can?t hide.?? Rising star Jun ?Hercules? Doliguez found Thai Maxsaisai Sithsaitong slippery and it took the ace from Touch Gloves Boxing Gym nine rounds before posting a technical knockout recently in the main event of the fight card put up by Saved by the Bell Promotions at the Agoncillo Sports Complex in Batangas. ??He (Sithsaitong) doesn?t want to slug it out,?? said Doliguez, who floored the Thai in the first round. ??I keep on chasing him.?? The win fashioned before a rip-roaring crowd was a huge followup to his TKO win over hardened Mexican Giovanni Caro at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Saved by the Bell Promotions chief Elmer Anuran said his ward will fly anew to Los Angeles to train at Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym. Doliguez trained at Wild Card before his fight against Caro. Anuran said Doliguez next fight scheduled next year will test Doliguez?s readiness to fight for the world title. It is known in local boxing circle that Doliguez wants to challenge reigning International Boxing Federation titleholder Evgeny Gradovich, dubbed as ??El Ruso Mexicano.?? The 27-year-old Gradovich has record of 18-0, 9 KOs. Doliguez, a southpaw, upped his record to 18-0-2, 14 KOs. Anuran said given the chance to fight the IBF champion, he?s hoping that it will be held in Macau. ??I?m sure lots of Filipino ring fans will witness the bout live,?? said Anuran. But the young sportsman-businessman said the most important thing is for the 5-foot-7 southpaw from Malungon, Saranggani to train at Wild Card under Roach. Granovich is not new to fighting in Asia. His last two fights which he won were held at the Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort Macao. Gradovich?s last victim at Macau was Billy Dib whom he TKOed in the 9th round of their fight last November. Doliguez softened Sithsaitong with body blows and dropped the Thai for the second time 2:18 of the ninth round. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Dennis U. Eroa. |
