ARCE ASKS FOR PRAYERS FOR CARMONA WHO IS IN BAD SHAPE By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 18 Nov 2013 ![]() Jorge ?Travieso? Arce has asked for prayers for Jose Carmona of Colombia over whom he scored a spectacular 8th round knockout in San Luis Potosi, Mexico last Saturday night. In his message Arce said ?Friends let?s pray for my opponent, seems he is doing very badly. I hope God blesses him. This is a sport and hopefully he?ll have a speedy recovery from a very hard fight.? Arce who was dropped once in round two and twice in round three by WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire and suffered a devastating knockout at the Toyota Center in Houston last December 15 and announced his retirement, returned to the ring as a featherweight and faced Carmona who was a late substitute for Brazilian-Mexican Aldimar Silva and later Giovani Caro according to ESPN Deportes. ESPN Deportes reported that referee Gabriel Peralta tried to prevent further bruising but immediately noticed Carmona?s bad condition. According to the report of the promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer, Carmona was being operated at the Hospital La Loma de San Luis Potosi state located 500 kilometers from Mexico City. A brain problem would have been diagnosed after his fall, plus a picture of severe dehydration. The ESPN Deportes report said that until 2:00 pm on Sunday, Carmona was serious and there was no information yet from surgery, so they began to offer their prayers for the health of the Colombian fighter. This is the second incident in less than a month in Mexico. Last October 19, the Mexicali Francisco Leal was transferred to a hospital moments after being knocked out in eight rounds by Raul Hirales Garcia. Leal died days later in San Diego.
