Donaire rebounds, stops Darchinyan again in rematch
By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 10 Nov 2013

Nonito Donaire Jr. was losing his fight against Vic Darchinyan tonight in Texas going into the 9th round of their rematch.
Two of the judges had the fight scored 78-74 for Darchinyan while the third had it even at 76. Donaire Jr. was getting hit all night by his counterpart?s left hand, stunning and hurting him numerous times in the bout.
He was slow and tentative tonight and his opponent took advantage of it. Darchinyan landed that hard left hand beginning in the first round and he landed it every round thereafter. The former champion from Armenia is dominating his former conqueror.
At the end of the 8th, Donaire?s trainer pleaded with him to throw more punches, to become more active. His father, Nonito Donaire Sr. asked for the same thing as they see their fighter get dominated by the other guy across the ring.
And Donaire Jr. responded, he was a different fighter in the 9th. He received a combination that moved him backwards but he retaliated with his signature left hook which found its target. A follow-up right sent Darchinyan to the canvas after that.
Darchinyan did not fully recover from that and Donaire Jr. knew it. He was a shark that smelled blood and he went for the big kill as Darchinyan struggled to find his legs. A succession of wicked and unanswered shots from Donaire Jr. had referee Laurence Cole rushing in to stop the massacre. There was no recovery for Darchinyan at that point.
Donaire Jr. bounced back from the fight to score a TKO victory at the 2:06 mark of the 9th to also bounce back in the winning circle after losing to Guillermo Rigondeaux last April in New York, his first in twelve years.
After the fight, he verbalized his intentions. He wants Rigondeaux again.
