By Raman Sharma PhilBoxing.com Mon, 04 Nov 2013
NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks fell to 1-2 for the season after a 109-100 loss against the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night.
Wolves All-Star power forward Kevin Love led all scorers with 34 points on 10 of 19 shooting and also added 15 rebounds. He got a huge helping hand from guard Kevin Martin who nailed five 3-pointers en route to 30 points on an extremely efficient 9-for-12 shooting.
Carmelo Anthony paced the Knicks in both points and rebounds with 22 and 17, respectively. Queens native, forward Metta World Peace added 17 points off the bench.
The Wolves rode the momentum of a 40-point first quarter to victory. The Knicks managed to cut the deficit to two points in the fourth quarter, but simply didn't have enough left in the tank to wrestle away the lead from the Wolves.
The Wolves improved to 3-0 under veteran head coach Rick Adelman in this young NBA season.
