PAEL STOPS POSTA IN SIQUIJOR

PhilBoxing.com

SIQUIJOR ? Rajah Renoel Pael did not disappoint his hometown fans who packed the Siquijor Capital Square when he knocked out Raul Posta of Bukidnon in the fourth round of the main event of the 1st Congresswoman Doc Anne Pernes Cup.

Pael used his height and reach advantage to keep Posta at bay. In the 4th, Pael fired a quick right uppercut to the midsection that made Posta wince in pain and turn his back. Referee Teddy Alivio reached the count of ten at 1:44 of the round.

Pael , who has held Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) titles, keeps his unbeaten record and is now 12W-0L-1D, 5 KO?s while Posta drops to 8W-3L-2D, 2 KO?s.

In the main supporting bout, Ardie Boyose beat Jesse Tuyor by TKO in the second round. A left hook to the jaw sent Tuyor flat on his back and Referee Ben Necessario signaled the end at the 2:28 mark. Both Pael and Boyose were awarded trophies for their effort.

Boyose and the other boxers from Team Singwangcha ? Neil John Tabanao, Joey Canoy and Melmark Dignos - swept their matches in the undercard bouts .

Neil John Tabanao won by TKO at the end of the second round against Elmar Francisco, who was dazed from an accumulation of head shots which prompted his cornerman to signal their capitulation.

Joey Canoy beat Jherad Tuyor by 4th round TKO. A series of unanswered blows prompted Referee Ben Necessario to stop the contest at 12 seconds going into the 4th.

Bryan Samson of Siquijor beat Jomar Ministerio by TKO, also in the fourth round. Time ? 52 seconds. Ministerio?s cornerman sensed that their boxer was too exhausted to continue fighting.
In the first professional bout of the evening, Melmark Dignos won by unanimous decision over Jaysever Abcede. The scores 40-36, 39-37 and 40-36.

Pael and Samson fought under the banner of Princesa Bulakna Resort of Maria, Siquijor.

The boxing event was opened by five amateur contests involving local standouts.

Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha was awarded a plaque of appreciation from Cong. Anne Pernes for his support of local boxing. Singwangcha was not able to make the trip and the award was accepted on his behalf by Dr.Edgardo Apolinar of Siquijor?s Rajah Silapulapu Promotions.

The local government officials and promoters in this boxing crazy island hope that this will launch the partnership between Siquijor and Thailand in sports tourism and the development of boxing.

The pro fights were supervised by GAB-Cebu OIC Celso Miranda and Glenn Agena.
