PACQUIAO CONFIDENT OF BEATING RIOS, STILL HOPING TO FACE MAYWEATHER

PhilBoxing.com

Manny Pacquiao will not retire from boxing and is ready to silence critics who are saying that his carrier is on a downside. He believes that he will win over Brandon Rios during their scheduled fight on November 24 in Macau, China.

In an interview with Lee Hawkins in the television program The Business of Celebrity over The Wall Street Journal Live, the eight-division world champion is confident of a victory over the younger Rios.

"I believe that I am faster than him and I have power to finish him if I have the chance to finish the fight," said Pacquiao when asked of his chances of winning in his next fight.

He said he chose Rios as his next foe not because he was easy to beat but because he can give a good fight. He said it is a great opportunity for the Asian people to watch the fight live in The Venetian in Macau.

Pacquiao wanted that boxing should be promoted as a global sport not only in America but as well as in Asia particularly China. And he still believes he has two to three years left in his boxing career.

He knows that he won the fight against Timothy Bradley and he wanted to redeem himself against the loss to Juan Manuel Marquez.

?Everybody knows that I won the fight,? Pacquiao said, referring to the loss to Bradley.

And in the recent loss to Marquez, many felt that he was ahead on points and was on the verge of winning the fight. He said he was about to knock Marquez out in the next round but the Mexican was just lucky to hand him a knock out punch.

?My condition and aggressiveness was there. That?s what the fans want to see. It just happened that he got that shot in the sixth round,? Pacquiao said.

Now that he is busy preparing and promoting the fight against Rios, Pacquiao has not lost hope of facing the number one pound-for-pound boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in the future.

?For me, that?s important,? Pacquiao said. ?It?s going to be an important part of my boxing record. As long as I'm still in boxing I' m hoping that it will still happen."

"That's what the fans want and as long as I'm still in boxing and he is still in boxing, there's a possibility that it will happen," added Pacquiao.

When asked if can he still beat Mayweather, the fighting congressman answered "Of course, of course."

He said that his change in religion did not diminish his meanness and aggressiveness as a fighter. "During my last fight with Marquez, my killer instinct was still there," declared Pacquiao.
