Upset Minded Celina Salazar is out to stop Hurricane Julaton By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Wed, 14 Aug 2013 If all goes according to Ana Julaton?s plans, her return to the ring in the tourist favorite city of Cancun, Mexico will be her stepping stone to much greater things. She may deny it for now, but numerous reports point to a title shot for her in the biggest boxing event this year, the Floyd Mayweather versus Saul Alvarez at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 14th. Out to derail that plan is her opponent across the ring this Saturday night, young and eager Celina Salazar (4-1-2, 1 KO). The 24 year old from San Antonio, Texas is deep in training for a very important fight of her young career when she faces the accomplished Filipina-American in three days. ?Training is going great. I am working hard and doing what I need to do to give the fans an exciting fight. Camp for this fight started in San Antonio and I am just now finishing it up in Tampa, Florida," Salazar informed Philboxing.com. Her trainer, Arturo Ramos who has trained Salazar since she was 13, is working closely with his boxer in devising a game plan that will help her in her fight against Julaton who because of her experience is favored to win. ?Obviously there's a game plan we've been working on and things we feel can help her during the fight but the majority of the things she's taking into the fight she has been doing for a very long time. Even when Celina is taking time off she's in the gym. Her loyalty to the sport has given us plenty of time over the years to continue to add different things to her arsenal," Ramos also communicated to Philboxing.com. Salazar, like her opponent, has also logged in numerous amounts of sparring in preparation for this bout. She stated that she had ?very good sparring? in Austin, San Antonio and in Tampa, Florida which was her last stop before leaving for Cancun this week. Both Salazar and Julaton had a hard time finding opponents to fight of late and when the offer was presented to the Salazar camp to fight Julaton, they accepted it right away. ?This isn't the first time we've had this fight on the table. When Celina only had couple of fights we were offered this fight and we accepted it then. We were in camp for weeks and then it was called off. We were never given a reason. So when the fight came up again, I accepted the fight without hesitation,? said Ramos. The younger Salazar acknowledged that it is a great opportunity to fight a popular fighter and a former world champion like Julaton, but that would not matter when fight night arrives and it?s just the two of them in that ring in Mexico. ?Well her record and history speaks for itself. I'll be facing another World Champion as I did in my last fight. When the bell rings it is just two of us in there and that's all the matters to me,? she stated. Salazar engaged former Women's International Boxing Association flyweight titlist, Melinda Cooper in six exciting rounds in their September 2012 fight. Salazar lost via Majority Decision against Cooper in her opponent?s hometown of Las Vegas. Salazar and Julaton are both aiming to give the fans an exciting fight this Saturday night. Both not only want to win, they also wanted to attract attention to women?s boxing and catch up with the popularity that women?s Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is enjoying now, primarily to the popularity of Ronda Rousey. ?They can expect to see Celina Salazar at 100%. That's what I've given the sport and my trainers my entire career. I don't mind putting in the hard work in the gym and making sacrifices to reach my goals. I am the underdog in this fight and this is my chance to show the people what I have. I will leave it all in the ring come fight night,? she said. Their fight will be a co-headliner of, guess what, a championship bout between two macho featherweights. WBC super featherweight champ, Takashi Miura will defend his crown against top challenger, Sergio Thompson. Both fights will be shown live by various television networks in Mexico, the United States and in some countries in Asia. Celina Salazar is well aware of the rumors and talks that surround her opponent. She knows that she and her fists can alter what Julaton and her team has been eyeing next. Like Julaton, she downplayed those reports that surfaced in the media and she has only one thing in her mind, which is to have her hands raised come fight night. ?I?m going in there to win. That's all I care about. I don't worry about rumors or what the media puts out there. All I know is that I'll be ready come August 17th.? Like the Mayan warriors that once inhabited this part of Mexico, expect a fierce battle between these two women this Saturday night.
