PANGILINAN COMMITS TO CONTINUE SUPPORTING GILAS PILIPINAS
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sun, 11 Aug 2013
 Pangilinan.
Eminent businessman-sportsman Manny Pangilinan has once again provided an insight into his passionate love for basketball which is the sport that is part of the everyday lives of millions of Filipinos, telling us that ?even if we lost (against Korea) we would continue to support our national team.
Noting that Gilas Pilipinas ?won even without Marcus Douthit who limped off the court in in the last five minutes of the first half after getting kneed once again on the sore spot on his shin echoed what Marc Pingris and Ranidel De Ocampo told the media in a post-game news conference ? It's Filipino pride that saw us through to a gold medal battle with awesome Iran.
Pangilinan said the victory ?says a lot about our players and coaches. We (in the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas) are here to help and support them all the way.?
Like the genuine supporter of the national team that he is, Pangilinan said ?even if we lost to Korea we would continue to support them.?
In response to a request by the Gilas Pilipinas players and the millions of basketball loving Filipinos, the business tycoon indicated he is prepared to host the FIBA Asia Championships next time around and ?even the World Cup.?
Pangilinan has always maintained that sports is a great unifier and strengthens the national sense of togetherness even as it teaches the youth in particular, the values and virtues of discipline, hard-work, courage and sportsmanship and faith in ourselves and our peoples ability to achieve even against all odds.
