CEBU – Jason “El Niño” Pagara (30-2, 19KO’s), Genesis “Azukal” Servania (19-0, 7 KO’s) and Jimrex “Executioner” Jaca (37-6-3, 21 KO’s) spent the sweltering Thursday afternoon winding down in their preparations for their respective bouts for Pinoy Pride XX: ‘Laban kung Laban’ at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on May 25. Pagara will defend his WBO International light welterweight title against Mexico’s Aaron “La Hoya” Herrera (25-1, 17 KO’s). He spoke to philboxing after his sparring session with stablemate Joseph Von Miñoza.
Pagara said that this was his final sparring session at the ALA Gym and he will be tapering down in his training eight days before the fight.
“I have seen the fight films of my opponent and studied his style.” Pagara said, “He is good but I will try my best to win by knockout.” Pagara was also confident that he will have no problems during the official weigh-in. “I am just three pounds over the limit,” He said. Jaca, a veteran southpaw, will go for the WBO Oriental lt.welterweight title and a world ranking when he clashes with Mexico’s Jose Emilio Perea (22-2, 14 KO’s) while Servania will face Isaac Junior of Indonesia (20-3-2, 8 KO’s)in a non-title contest.
Barring any injury on May 25, Servania is also set to fight in Macau on July 27 on the undercard of the WBO flyweight title bout between champion Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico and the ALA Gym’s Milan ‘El Metodico’ Melindo.
