NBA -- Warriors turn back Spurs, even series By Shelley Dano PhilBoxing.com Thu, 09 May 2013 LOS ANGELES--The Golden State Warriors bounced back from the heartbreak of a Game 1 defeat by beating the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal Wednesday night at the AT&T Center. The morale-boosting victory ended the Warriors' 29 game losing streak in San Antonio, a downward spiral dates back all the way to February 1997. It also evened the best-of-7 series at 1-1. Game 3 shifts to the Oracle Arena in Oakland on Friday night. Warriors guard Klay Thompson scored 34 points while Stephen Curry added 22, including seven in the final two minutes when the Spurs tried to mount another monumental comeback.. Curry said on Klay's complete effort tonight: ?You ride a guy who is feeling that hot. When he is in rhythm, even with a hand in his face, he was knocking them down. It was a lot of fun to watch him get us that big lead in the first half but like he said he did it on both ends of the court. Coach Jackson complimented him at halftime that a lot of people where going to talk about his shooting performance but the way he bothered Tony (Parker) was a solid complete performance." The Warriors blew a 16-point lead late in the fourth quarter to lose Game 1 in double overtime, They built a 19-point lead in Game 2 and hung on. ?I truly believe that trials and tribulations are transportation for where you?re going. Game 1 made us better. We didn?t panic. We made plays. That?s a heck of basketball team, that?s extremely well coached and has no quit in them. We don?t have any quit in us either. The bottom line is we made the plays we needed to make, " Golden State head coach Mark Jackson said in his post-game press conference. Warriors rookie Harrison Barnes had 13 points while Carl Landry added 10 points and eight rebounds. Andrew Bogut chipped in 11 and Jarrett Jack added eight points Duncan scored 23 points and Tony Parker added 20 for San Antonio, which had won five straight in the postseason. Manu Ginobili had 12 points and Kawhi Leonard had 11 points and 12 rebounds. "What happened in Game 1 wasn't about their inexperience," Ginobili said. "It's one of those things that happens very rarely. We shouldn't have won that game. They came out hungrier and with more determination. They just did a much better job than us."
